This was me when I turned 38. I was exhausted, 20 pounds heavier, foggy, and short-tempered—and silently wondering if this was just how it goes now. I didn’t know it then, but I was in perimenopause—and my old weight-loss tools were never going to work the same way again.
For years, I had done everything “right.” I followed the plans, tracked the calories, pushed through workouts—even when my body was screaming for rest. But the more I chased results, the more disconnected I felt. My energy was gone. My confidence had slipped away. I was frustrated, defeated, and done pretending it was working.

I tried fixing it with more discipline, more workouts, and more restriction. But my body didn’t respond the way it used to. In fact, it seemed to rebel harder each time. Later, I learned what no one had told me: I was in perimenopause, and my metabolism, hormones, and stress response had all shifted.
I’ll never forget standing in my bathroom at 42, looking in the mirror and not recognizing the tired, defeated woman staring back at me.
That moment rewired me.
As a former chemist, I knew how to search for answers—so I turned my curiosity inward. I stopped blaming myself and started looking at the science of midlife metabolism, perimenopause, and nervous system health. I stopped obsessing over quick fixes and started focusing on what actually mattered: how I felt, how I functioned, and how to build a life that supported both.
That’s when I discovered the power of combining science with self-awareness. Real transformation didn’t come from more restriction—it came from creating aligned habits, tuning into my body, and giving myself permission to thrive.
